Fertiliser Comment, 4 September

Spot Geelong prices for urea continue to remain very firm, with small tonnages changing hands at $780-820 ex Geelong.

There are a few cargos arriving into Geelong this week, but it would seem on paper that all this tonnage has been sold/accounted for.

Mainland demand seem to be slowing, as the dry weather forecast cools farmer enthusiasm to add more nitrogen to the crops. Mainland prices continue to trade a decent premium to import replacement, however this wont last.

Locally it has been very quiet. One ship has discharged some urea this week, so that will help cover local demand. Prices are likely to remain firm until October/November.
